Recurring Spaces is a journey through the artist’s common places, where through his eyes we observe the world around him. Scenes filled with light, contrasts, and excessive saturation. This series of works offers us a vibrant Málaga, with colorful landscapes and spaces inhabited by characters as dreamlike as they are real.
Luis García, a Venezuelan artist self-exiled for about a decade, has lived in wild cities such as Maracaibo, Bogotá, and Quito. He has developed a language rich in symbols and color that illustrates his daily life and experiences. His autobiographical work serves as a travel log that has evolved with every place he has lived in and every person portrayed in his pieces—sometimes strangers from a single night, sometimes friends who become part of his creative journey.
He studied for a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the Universidad Católica Cecilio Acosta in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela. His first exhibitions include Vamos a la casa del Señor and Biografía (Maracaibo, Venezuela), and Los Animales (Quito, Ecuador). He has also worked as a drawing and painting instructor at AmaramA Cowork Artístico in Quito, Ecuador.
Coeo celebrates and supports local creativity by giving upcoming Malaga artists a platform to showcase their work. Join us for an evening of inspiration at our monthly Art Expo in the gallery at Beatas hostel, where we embrace and promote the vibrant culture and talent of our beloved city.
